Italian Handblown Glass Lamp
This substantial Italian wall lamp from the 1960s is formed from a thick square panel of handblown glass, held against a simple metal housing. Its clear, undulating surface is interrupted by a fluid brown swirl suspended within the glass, giving the lamp the appearance of a small abstract composition.
When illuminated, the different thicknesses and folds distort the light, while the brown inclusion becomes warmer and more pronounced. More glass sculpture than conventional lighting, the lamp has a strong presence even when switched off. It can be hung on a wall or placed on a shelf or sideboard as an atmospheric accent.
Newly rewired with a European plug. Takes an E27 bulb and was in working order at the time of cataloguing.
